WELCOME
My name is Kay and I am passionate about all things birth. I am a birth and postpartum doula based in London. I believe that birth is a beautifully sacred journey, not something to be feared, but a time that women and families should be fully supported. Every birth is unique and special in its own way, therefore my role is to be guided by your needs to help support you in this wonderful process whichever way I am needed most.
Doulas are trained birth workers that provide physical, emotional and informative support during pregnancy, labour and birth. Having a doula ensures continuity of care, non-judgemental support and access to information so you feel empowered to make informed choices and decisions. It also means being nurtured, having someone who can hold and protect space for you - as well as an extra pair of hands which is invaluable especially in those first few weeks after birth! Research shows that having a doula lowers intervention rates and improves birth outcomes for both mother and baby.
I am known for my calm and confident nature as well as my cooking skills! I have also been often told that my presence in a room has created a positive shift. I am fiercely passionate about ensuring that the mother’s choices are heard and followed. I trust in the instinctive nature of a woman’s body and a baby's intelligent design to create the most powerful birthing experience – no matter how or where you choose to have it!
I listen from a place of openness to help identify your preferences and support your decisions. I also work with partners to support them in approaching birth with confidence by empowering them to empower you. I also love meeting and working with the rest of the family, whether that be siblings or grandparents and if you are approaching this birth alone, I can be all those things to you and more so there is no dip in the love and support received!
For as long as I can remember, new life has always been a big part of my world. Growing up in a community and culture where child birth and supporting women and families has always been a part of the fabric that holds us together, becoming a doula was like second nature to me.
I come from a long line of women who have always supported birth from my great grandmother being the only midwife in her community in Jamaica, helping a plethora of women in holistic traditional birth, to my own mother who is also a doula! With all this maternal wisdom running through my veins, I believe that I am able to provide an individualised perspective on the support I offer to help co-create the birth of your dreams.
